General: Walk entire system
and check for abnormal operation or vibration. Visually check for
loose bolts or parts.
Walk entire system and check for possible safety hazards such as
safety guards out of place and oil or grease spots on walkways.
Check for snags, catch points and alignment of side guards and verify
all safety devices are in place and functioning properly.
Motors, Clutches and Brakes: Check that mounting bolts
are secure, check for unusual voices, check couplers and remove
dirt from breather vents.
Reducers: Check oil level and visually determine that no
oil is leaking from seals, temperature is ambient, moutning bolts
are secure and remove dirt from breather vents. On shaft mounted
reducers, see that torque arm jam nuts are locked.
Belting: Check that belt does not slip at drive pulley,
visually inspect that lacing is secure and undamaged, check belts
for frayed edges, surface cuts, wear or damage and that there is
no build-up of foreign substances or spillage of liquid. Check sheaves
for proper alignment, inspect setscrews for security and excessive
Pulleys and Rollers: Check for build-up of foreign material,
taperlock bushings and mounting bolts for security and inspect pulley
lagging for signs of wear.
Bearings: Inspect bearings for indication of failure, check
that mounting bolts and setscrews are secure and lubricate bearings
Drive Chains: Lubricate chain, inspect chain for proper
tension, and check for wear.
Sprockets Inspect sprockets for alignment, adjusting and for wear
and check set screws and keys for security.
Electrical: Verify photoeyes and reflectors are securely
mounted and aligned and indicator lights for proper functioning.
